Jim and Marianne Soule of the Friends of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse were presented with ALF Len Hadley Volunteerism awards during the American Lighthouse Foundation’s annual Lighthouse Gala, which was held at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine, on May 7, 2017.

Jim and Marianne Soule have been extremely dedicated and valued Friends of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse volunteers for the past decade. Jim and Marianne have faithfully covered a regular docent shift each week since they began volunteering at the lighthouse in 2005.

With fourteen shifts a week, FPPL is able to remain open at the lighthouse from 10:30 to 5:00, seven days a week during the summer season – but not without people like Jim and Marianne. The couple, who transitioned from regulars to alternates a few years ago, are reliable “go to” volunteers when a shift is not filled or someone calls in sick.

In addition to being docents, Jim and Marianne have often volunteered during special days like National Lighthouse Day, Maine Open Lighthouse Day and the Midcoast Maine Lighthouse Challenge. During these special events, they are always eager to help with the children’s program FPPL offers at the lighthouse. Jim and Marianne are truly reliable and conscientious docents and we at FPPL are very happy to honor them with ALF’s Len Hadley Volunteerism Award!
