The American Lighthouse Foundation and its chapter, Friends of Rockland Harbor Lights, invite the public to join them Friday, September 13, 2013 for a lighthouse sunset cruise featuring five Midcoast guiding lights.
The cruise is a wonderful opportunity for participants to enjoy close-up views of the following lighthouses: Indian Island at the entrance to Rockport Harbor, Curtis Island at the entrance to Camden Harbor and Grindle Point on Islesboro, as well as Owls Head and Rockland Breakwater.
The funds raised during the lighthouse sunset cruise will help the lighthouse preservation and education mission of the American Lighthouse Foundation and its chapter, Friends of Rockland Harbor Lights, who care for Rockland Breakwater and Owls Head lighthouses.
The three-and-a-half-hour sunset cruise will depart from the Public Landing at Rockland’s Harbor Park at 4:00 p.m. aboard the Monhegan Boat Line’s P/V Elizabeth Ann. Tickets are $45 per person, reservations are recommended. A cash bar, light fare and desserts will be offered onboard. Tickets can be purchased at the American Lighthouse Foundation Interpretative Center, which is located in the keeper’s house at Owls Head Light Station, online at www.lighthousefoundation.org/events/lh_cruise_2013sept13.htm or by calling 207-594-4174.
