The classes, led by Gary Childs, Cape Cod Chapter chairperson, were held at the Yarmouth Congregational Church on 4/25 and at Race Point Light Station on 4/26.
On the first day, prospective “Keepers” participated in the classroom portion. They learned about the American Lighthouse Foundation and its Cape Cod Chapter, as well as the history of Race Point Light Station and its restoration. In addition, the new volunteers were introduced to policies & procedures contained within the handbooks for the keeper’s house and whistle house at Race Point.

Volunteers were provided the opportunity to drive the Cape Cod Chapter’s oversand vehicles to and from the lighthouse and the parking areas within the Cape Cod National Seashore, where Race Point Lighthouse is located.
