What does this annual online auction fundraiser support?
The funds we raise during this annual event provide vital financial resources to support our ongoing mission-based programs throughout the year. Through historic preservation, education and public access programs, the American Lighthouse Foundation is “leaving the light on” for future generations.
Sustaining Excellence…
In addition to the dedicated preservation work at our 13 lighthouse projects, the American Lighthouse Foundation is also collaborating with other entities on some exciting initiatives such as:
- World Monuments Fund – to raise vital public awareness and funds designed to mitigate storm damage and integrate resiliency into the fabric of Maine’s light stations, which were one of twenty-five sites nominated to the WMF’s 2025 global Watch List.
- University of New England’s 2025 Summer Sustainability Fellowship program – ALF and UNE worked together collecting research and data to demonstrate how storm surge and rising sea levels are threatening historic light stations.
- MotionInfo / AIS-based StationKeeper initiative – where lighthouses help in protecting the endangered North Atlantic right whale. To date, six (6) ALF lighthouses are serving as site hosts for this cutting-edge technology. Lighthouses still help guide and protect mariners, and now they are also playing a vital role in marine conservation by protecting the right whale.
