Overview:
The West Quoddy Head Light Keepers Association (WQHLKA) operates a Visitors Center inside the historic keeper’s dwelling at the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse. Located in Quoddy Head State Park, the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse stands at the easternmost point of the U.S.
The mission of WQHLKA is to enhance the experience and knowledge of community members and visitors to West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and the Visitor Center, through educational exhibits linking the lighthouse, community of Lubec, and the maritime world.

- Description: A lighthouse was first built at this location in 1808 under orders from President Thomas Jefferson. The iconic red & white striped lighthouse tower that stands today was built in 1858.
- Status: Active Aid-to-Navigation and a host site for the AIS-based StationKeeper system, which is helping to protect the endangered North Atlantic Right Whale.
WQLHKA Lighthouse Visitors Center:
The West Quoddy Head Lighthouse Keepers Association operates the Visitor Center on the first floor of the lightkeeper’s historic residence. In addition to historic and interactive displays, visitors can view and purchase unique artwork by skilled local visual artists. WQLHKA staff & volunteers operate the Visitors Center at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse from Memorial Day to mid-October each year.
