Dave Garabedian of the Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouses was presented with an ALF Len Hadley Volunteerism award during the American Lighthouse Foundation’s annual Lighthouse Gala, which was held at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine, on May 15, 2016.
Dave joined the Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouses as a volunteer at the beginning of the 2014 season and has been a valuable team member ever since. In addition to helping staff the lighthouse during open houses, Dave often volunteers when school groups visit the historic site. He has a wonderful way with children, and he also coaches little league when he’s not at the lighthouse.

Dave is easygoing and flexible despite any chaos that may be going on around him during open houses when the crowds can become large. He jumps into any of the volunteer stations at our open houses without hesitation, doing whatever is needed for the good of the team. We consider him to be our “pinch hitter,” coming in at a moment’s notice to help. He’s come through in the clutch time and time again. As our 2015 MVP, he’s earned the Len Hadley volunteer award!

Congratulations to Dave Garabedian of the Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouses!
